A silly chronicle of our life in Napa (and where ever else we find ourselves this summer) for Jonathan Herre.

Perspective (non-baseball kind :>)
FLOW
Be,
as water is,
without friction.
Flow around the edges
of those within your path.
Surround within your ever-moving depths
those who come to rest there - -
enfold them,
while never for a moment holding on.
Accept whatever distance
others are moved within your flow.
Be with them gently
as far as they allow your strength to take them,
and fill with your own being
the remaining space when they are left behind.
When dropping down life's rapids,
froth and bubble into fragments if you must,
knowing that the one of you now many
will just as many times be one again.
And when you've gone as far as you can go,
quietly await your next beginning.

Catcher
Did I mention he made that play in the last inning? AND had a diving stop on the next hitter. He saw lots of action at second and played so well!
Play to First
A little windy, but a sunny night - AND, Hip-Hip-Jorge was later than we were!!! :).
First up was a strike out, but on three great swings.

I swam
650M - 1/3 of a mile. I've decided when I get up to 800M, I am treating myself to a new swim suit. My current - for the last five years - is seriously deteriorating, and becoming a little 'transparent'. No bueno.
And while I need 150M more to earn the suit, I do believe the added distance deserves fish tacos as a reward. So we'll be having those after Hip Hop!

Morning run
Overcast and cool today, which made for a great meditative setting for my morning run. It feels good to be getting back into the flow of being out there a few times a week. Only two cars passed me during 30 minutes. Many bikers, a few other joggers, several couples out for a morning stroll. Good traffic.

Well...
I hoped for water aerobis, senior swim, rehab hour, pool cleaning... ANYTHING that would save me from having to get in the pool. But wouldn't you know, 2-4 on Tuesdays is open pool. Damn it!! Not only that, but all lanes had swimmers - so I had to SHARE a lane. The only ultimate benefit of that is I wanted to quit after two lengths of the pool, bit was too embarrassed to have the woman in my lane see me get out so quickly. So, I talked myself out of and then back into each subsequent lap for 30 more laps. A total of 32 - a mere quarter of a mile that felt like an eternity.
But, I did it.

A happy Mothers Day... updated
My Mother's Day Presents:
An artwork puzzle, a pin (triangle on the right) and a home-made card. I love them more than I can put into words. We've had such a fun day (additions of Cold Stone Ice Cream, visit to Target for 'a little treat' - I picked a Tron guy..., and a game of one-on-one hoops at the school - he won 21-18 on a three-pointer.)
Off to brunch, then tennis, then THOR!
This is a 7 year-olds Mother's Day :)
